Skin care

A couple of months ago I discovered that a vital part of keeping aging skin looking healthy is to “feed” it Hyaluronic Acid.

The reason that I was looking at skin care was that I always seemed to be unable to keep my face moisturised during winter. Following this new knowledge I naturally tried to source a product that could assist with the task of keeping my skin healthy and glowing.

Of course there are the major brands that all offer this “hyaluronic-acid, the-anti-ageing-nutrient” in one form or another. However – while I was researching the matter I stumbled upon a local and Australian Made brand called “Baimeni”.

Jennifer founded the brand also due to some personal skin care issues. These products have numerous advantages; not only are they made with natural ingredients (plant based only) but they are also free of sulphate, paraben, lanolin, SLS, SLES, artificial colours and fragrances as well as not tested on animal.

I have since bought and used the Baimeni Acne Trio and am very pleased to report that I feel a lot better within my skin – so to speak. I could see the difference within 3 days. My skin feels amazing but I found that I really need to keep up with it.

I do have a problem with the trio though; the individual products last for varying times. This is a shame as the trio is quite an exceptional value however having to replenish one after another not only makes it slightly more expensive but also inconvenient to a degree.

I also notice that I cannot extract any more of the Hydrating Eye & Face Serum with Hyaluronic Acid as the pump doesn’t seem to be reaching to the bottom or even lower part of the bottle. I have about 7 mm left in it and can’t seem to bring it out.

Nevertheless I will keep using it due to the obvious success in my case. I also think that the benefits outweigh these few disadvantages.

There is also an option for a bi-monthly “HA Serum & Face Oil Subscription”. I may need to monitor the time I take to get through the next bottle and see if this becomes the best option for me.

The trio also includes a honey based face cleanser & mask. How I love this. Seriously good like honey. This lasts the longest as I not always find the time to indulge but it is a must if you try the brand not only for the HA component. Nourishing Honey Face Cleanser and Mask. As you can see I did use it :-).

And then there is the Apple Cider Vinegar and Aloe Vera Toner. This you should always use before applying the serum.

I give these three products a combined 4.5 rating out of 5 which means I will stick with it.   For now J.

Stay safe and take care, xx J.

FiveChimneys

Having lost her husband, her parents, and her two young sons to the Nazi exterminators, Olga Lengyel had little to live for during her seven-month internment in Auschwitz. Only Lengyel’s work in the prisoners’ underground resistance and the need to tell this story kept her fighting for survival. She survived by her wit and incredible strength. Despite her horrifying closeness to the subject, FIVE CHIMNEYS does not retreat into self-pity or sensationalism. When first published (two years after World War 2 ended), Albert Einstein was so moved by her story that he wrote a personal letter to Lengyel, thanking her for her “”very frank, very well written book””. Today, with ‘ethnic cleansing’ in Bosnia, and neo-Nazism on the rise in western Europe, we cannot afford to forget the grisly lessons of the Holocaust. FIVE CHIMNEYS is a stark reminder that the unspeakable can happen wherever and whenever ethnic hatreds, religious bigotries, and racial discriminations are permitted to exist.

My new nails – made by French Nails

I have not posted another beauty article since the very beginning of my blog and that was an emergency. Since I have just had a day of pampering which included a nice spa pedicure, new SNS nails and some eye brow loving I thought to let you in on my new nails.

This slideshow requires JavaScript.

Here is a link to my earliest post which explains the system a bit more.

I do love the white and am intrigued to see how long they will look nice and clean :-).

Beauty – My nails emergency

My nails are close to being destroyed. Due to some circumstance outside of my control I am having to have 4 weeks between appointments. Just so you know – I am loving my SNS nails; they are long and almond-shaped and just adorable.
Luckily I am not working a lot with hot water (thanks to the modern dish washer and other appliances) as I was told that SNS may not survive if subjected to water continuously. However accidents happen even without water! I actually had my right thumbnail on fire; literally lit up in a flame. Lighting a candle with three wicks using an ordinary cigarette lighter is definitely not recommended. Instead use a gas lighter or candle matches. That nail now is on its path back to catching up on length.
Currently my left middle nail is broken right on the nail bed and I have no idea how that may be fixed by my expert technician on Friday. Can’t wait to see what she recommends.

My Nail Emergency
Previously I had acrylic for years but since trying SNS I fear that option cannot be considered anymore. Much more bulky, thicker and unnatural looking than the SNS which are actually your own nails powder-coated.
I am blessed to have a great technician who even with limited tools and accessories manages to “spice” them up if want her to “decorate” some. Depending on upcoming events I might want my ring finger nails to have some artwork.
There are some great inspirations online by other technicians all around the world.
My favourite on Instagram: @NailsByCambria

So, I am looking forward on getting it all fixed again and if i am happy with the outcome I may update with a photo.
Until then take care, stay safe and smile and know that I am always interested to hear others experiences or see their fab nails so go on I dare you to show me. xx

By the way: SNS = Signature Nail System
There is a great article here explaining this advanced system and how to look after your beautiful new nails.
