Apologies if this took a little while. I have been having a bit of a lazy period lately 🙂
But to get to the subject matter; as promised in “My Pets #1” here is the story about another of my past fur babies.
“Baby” our very first kitty cat in Australia was also a rescue from the RSPCA. We were told that she had been a minimum of 18 months when we got her but our vet agreed with us that she most likely was about 6 month younger than the estimate.
This one was quite the fighter; I could not take her home immediately as she had to be desexed first. In Australia, animal shelters cannot re-home dogs and/or cats unless they are desexed, vaccinated and micro-chipped. I returned to the RSPCA to pick her up on the day of her surgery. Although I was very careful when handling her she must have felt pain > she bit me.
Not knowing when I received my last Tetanus I had to take a tour to my Doctor and get a shot.
Baby was – as all my cats were and still are – an indoor cat only. We never therefore had to worry about car accidents, cat fights and other injuries outside the home. All we had to do is accustom her to our Rick and give her everything a feline friend could possibly want. Besides, where I live – we have a 24 hour cat curfew. This means one has to try to keep the cat within ones own property boundary at all times. Hello – we are talking cats; the jump, claim and whatnot. So – for me indoors it will always be.
Baby lived with us 10 years until I had her too sent over the rainbow due to acute kidney failure.
We had to let go of her on 16 July 2008.
R.I.P my “Baby”, you too shall never be forgotten. xxx
